Type

Reinforced plastic tarpaulin sheet of 4 x 5 metres (finished size).

Area of use

Mainly for temporary human shelter or other personal protection purposes.

Material

Made in woven high density polyethylene fibres. Wrap x weft: 12/14 per square inch, laminated on both sides with low density polyethylene, with reinforced rims by heat sealing on all sides (or 2 sides heat sealing and 2 sides double stitching), and nylon ropes in hem, 100 dernier minimum. Waterproof and stabilized against ultraviolet rays and excess heat for long outdoor exposure for approx 2 years in tropical climate. 

Tensile strength and elongation

Minimum 600N both directions of wrap and weft (BS2576, 25mm grabtest or equivalent). Bursting strength: minimum 200N/cm2 (BS 4768 or equivalent) Minimum 10 DaN under ISO 1421 outside of the reinforcement bands.

Tear Strength

Minimum 100N both directions (BS 4303 or equivalent)

UV Resistance

Maximum 5% loss on original tarpaulin tensile strength under Iso1421 after 1500 hours UV under ASTM G53/94 (UVB 313 nm peak), to be tested outside and inside the reinforcement bands.

Length

Sheets of 5 metres and rolls of 50m (tolerance in size +/- 5% only).

Weight

From 190g/m2 +/-5%, plus 10% for the reinforcement bands under ISO3801.

Flammability

Flash point above 200C.

Colour

Grey on one side. White on the reverse side.

Printing

Logos to run lengthwise through the entire roll, at intervals of 30cm and maximum 75cm.

Packing

In bales of 5 sheets, secured with polyester brands.
